KnightGuard Privacy Policy

KnightGuard ("we", "our", or "us") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, retain, and delete data when you use our KnightGuard Wear OS application ("App").
1. Information We Collect
When you use KnightGuard on your Wear OS device, we may collect:
- Health & sensor data: Heart rate, heart rate variability (HRV), blood oxygen (SpO2), steps, calories, distance, accelerometer/gyroscope data, and body temperature (if supported by your device).
- Location data: GPS latitude, longitude, and movement speed (only when you use emergency features or if you grant background location permission).
- Account & device identifiers: Anonymous device ID, app version, and crash logs.
2. How We Use Your Data
- Display real-time vitals and activity metrics on your watch.
- Synchronize data to secure AWS cloud storage for long-term trend analysis.
- Provide emergency SOS with location sharing.
- Improve app performance and troubleshoot issues.
3. Data Retention – How Long We Keep Your Data
We retain your personal and health data as follows:
- Active users: All health and activity data is retained indefinitely while you continue using KnightGuard.
- Inactive users: If you stop using the App for 24 consecutive months, we will automatically delete your stored health and location data from our servers.
- Emergency location data: GPS coordinates from an emergency request are retained for 30 days, then permanently deleted.
Aggregated, anonymized analytics (with no personal identifiers) may be kept longer for service improvement.
4. How to Request Deletion of Your Data
You can request deletion of all your data at any time. Since KnightGuard does not currently have an in-app deletion button, please follow these steps:
- Send an email from the address associated with your Google account to: privacy@knightshealth.africa
- Use the subject line: "KnightGuard Data Deletion Request"
- In the email body, include:
- Your Wear OS device ID (find it in the App → Settings → About)
- The date you started using KnightGuard (if known)
We will process your deletion request within 14 days and send a confirmation email once all your health, activity, and location data have been permanently removed from our cloud servers. Deleted data cannot be recovered.
5. Data Security & Storage
All health data is encrypted with AES-256 during transmission and at rest in AWS (us-east-1 region). Access is restricted to authorized personnel only.
6. Third-Party Sharing
We do not sell your data. We share data only:
- With emergency services (when you trigger SOS, your GPS location is sent to local dispatchers).
- As required by law or to protect safety.
7. Children’s Privacy
KnightGuard is not intended for users under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
8. Changes to This Policy
We will notify you of material changes via the App or email. Continued use means acceptance of the updated policy.
